Thanks to all the peeps in Pittsburgh who convinced me. Enjoy the latest deconstruct.
Hello all! I just wanted to let you know how my week has gone and about the things I’ve gotten to do.
Hello David! My name is Julee and I’m an Archu-holic.
First off, I’d like to welcome Jordan Pruitt to the tour! I talked to her and she’s a really nice girl. She’s really talented too. So even though I miss KSM
. I’m looking forward to having Jordan with us now! So I hope you guys enjoy her set. And also, I just wanted to say welcome to Jordan!
Hi Jordan! Welcome to David-land! Are you prepared to become an Archu-holic, too? It’s really not that bad. You’ll find lots of support and lots of love when you start to go over the edge. Like when David sings. Anything. If you’re NOT prepared for this I recommend going straight to the dressing room when you are finished performing and not watching his set. You might want to invest in earplugs as well. At all costs do not put yourself in the vortex of sound, glory and intense love that is David when he is performing.
All right, so the shows that we’ve had since my last update have been in Kansas City, Chicago, and Cincinnati. They’ve all been awesome! Today we’re in Cleveland.
David, you have never mentioned the Las Vegas show. I only know that because I am pretty sure I was there (see previous posts). I have ticket stubs and video and this nifty David t-shirt and a sudden craving for whole-grain bread, but no mention from you. If this really didn’t happen, let me know and I will chalk it up to one of my Archu-holic ‘lost weekends’ and confess it to the group.
Something exciting about this week is we had Kendra’s family around!
Kendra is a rock star! We love Kendra with all our hearts and souls. David, you could not have a better blonde keyboard chick than Kendra. Brooke would be good, too. Maybe she could play guitar for you. Hey, then you could find a blonde female drummer and bass player and have an all blonde-beauty band backing you up! Like KSM but with different hair color! Now that would truly rock my world. Plus it might gain you a few more male fans. I’ll start going through resumes.
We had 2 days off while they were here, so we decided to take the time and visit some historical church sites that were in the areas of Independence, Liberty, and Far West Missouri. They were all in the Kansas City area. It’s really interesting learning about the history and challenges people had to face back then, and admirable to see the courage they had when they faced them.
Ahh, David. If I had been with you I would have asked you to sing “A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief” somewhere somehow even though I have vowed to never ask you to do anything ever again. I would have wished that my ancestors and maybe yours could have had you singing to them when their homes were burned and they were forced to leave in the middle of winter under threat of death with nothing but the clothes they had on their backs. Maybe you were singing up in heaven and that’s why they had the courage they did. Because you and I both know you’ve been singing for a much longer time that your mere 18 years. I sort of think you were Lead Angel in a lot of the Heavenly Choirs throughout mankind’s history. Don’t laugh. It’s possible.
On our other day off, we were going to Chicago but took a detour to a little historical town called Nauvoo. I loved it! All the people there were just really nice, and they had a pageant (which is another way of saying a play I guess haha) which was really neat. If you ever happen to be in the area for some reason lol, I really recommend you check it out. But it was fun spending time with Kendra’s family and going to see the sites!
Questions:
*Did you love the humidity there?
*Was it wonderfully hot and oppressive?
*Did your hair curl and all paper products wilt?
*Did you make a brick or tour my 3rd-Great-Grandfather’s house?
*Did the ‘pageant’ people know you were in the audience?
*Did they ask you to sing a chorus of something?
*If not, what in the world is wrong with them?
*Did you follow the road down to the river where the citizens of Nauvoo had to leave under threat of death in the middle of the winter with nothing but the clothes on their back? Yes, happened here, too. If you sang in Missouri, you would have been singing in Nauvoo as they crossed the frozen Mississippi and prepared to become pioneers.
*Did you find out if you had any Danish ancestors there? I’ll bet they ate abvelskivers. I spent many a summer in Nauvoo. I’ll tell you about it next time we talk lol.

After Nauvoo, Kendra’s family left, but we actually had another day off yesterday and went to another little historical town called Kirtland here in Ohio. Had another great day there! haha.
I’ll bet you didn’t get to sleep outside in the yard of one of the historical homes there like I did last time I was there haha. Which was anciently. One of those ‘old’ things that happened.
I’ve heard a lot about these places since they have a lot of history with my church and beliefs, and I honestly was never that interested in going to visit them before. I just thought ok… I know a lot of stuff happened there but it’s old. But this year we decided to go since they just so happened to all be near cities we had days off in. Isn’t that ironic? lol.
Ironic, fortuitous, fate, karma, destiny. Glad you got to go David! Could we get a chorus of “Come, Come, Ye Saints” out of you sometime? In the meantime, you can choose the Tab Choir or Pussycat Dolls. Or download Gladys Knight from itunes.
But wow…. I had such an awesome time. I just gained a totally new perspective of what people really had to go through in their lives so I could have what I have in my life today. It’s good to learn about our history, and see what has helped get us where we are and make us who we are today. I just have to say thanks to them for everything. You can always read stuff and say yeah ok sure I know about it already. But there’s a big difference in actually being there where it happened and feel the atmosphere of it all. You also learn in a way you could never learn by just reading. I know I don’t usually mention that kind of stuff… but it’s what I did this week, and I can’t help but show how much I appreciate and respect what they’ve done. You’d really have to go to the places to understand, and see what they were like. But anyway, this has just been a really great week
.
David, don’t ever apologize for mentioning stuff that means a lot to you and makes you who you are. Don’t you know by now that true fans accept you completely? I mean, there were lots of peeps celebrating Pioneer Day because of you and they didn’t even know what it was lol. BTW, did you know that Pioneer Children Sang as they Walked, and Walked, and Walked . . . aaaand Walked? Yeah, you know what I’m going to say – you were up there singing along.
Ok, tomorrow is a solo show in Pittsburgh! I haven’t done a headlining show since the first show in Del Mar, but yeah I’m on tour with Demi now so that’s the reason why haha. But it should be fun! The scary thing is since we’ve been on tour, we haven’t had a whole lot of rehearsal time – Even though we did get to go through the longer set with the newer band members in Del Mar. But I’m excited! Pittsburgh is a great city.
OK, so my new BFF Kate Ti convinced me to go to the Pittsburgh concert. It IS a great city. The really scary thing is how close I came to not going. You and your band’s ‘not a whole lot of rehearsal time’ is nothing compared to the nightmare that would have been my life had I stayed home. That would have been an epic mistake. It was cathartic and magnificent and jaw-dropping and I do believe that now I am a changed woman. You left us speechless once again. I take that back, I do have just one word and it’s been going through my head and my heart all day: Bubbly.
And here is what I learned from the Burgh. . .
By some random and extremely lucky twists of fate, I’ve had the opportunity to actually ‘hang around’ where you have been on several occasions for several hours and have had several conversations with you that were longer than 30 seconds. I have not yet even gotten over my Archu-hangover from the Las Vegas VIP where I was a lucky lottery-question-asking-winner. I’ve been blessed in terms of meeting you.
But if I had to choose between having those experiences or simply being in a venue where every single person was sending complete love and appreciation to you and you felt it and let it go to your heart instead of your head and then turned around and gave that love back a thousand fold like you did in Pittsburgh, I would choose the Pittsburgh experience every time. The love was palpable on both sides of that stage. Don’t need no VIP. Don’t need no special access. Don’t need to ever communicate with you personally again. Just you and me and the band and the love will suffice. It is your gift and while you are immensely charming in person, you are never more shiny than when you are performing and loving all of us.
I also realized that if we will allow it, your example and influence can change us for the better. I know you may feel uncomfortable with that knowledge, but it’s true. I have met so many gracious and beautiful and generous people through you. This is important and should never be taken for granted. Thank you once again for making me feel blessed to be your fan.
My epiphany may have had something to do with your note-perfect performance or the stunning and heart-stopping return of Angels and To Be With You (were you trying to tell us something in that song, young man?) or maybe with your strutting your whistling sassafras stuff in YEDL or with your epic ZG greatness, not to mention the complete mind-numbing experience of 1) hearing you sing something new 2) having that something new be Bubbly 3) realizing that what we were hearing will undoubtedly be taken up several hundred notches in subsequent concerts 4) realizing that HOLY HECK David, was it really necessary to kill us with that blend of sweetness, innocence and somethin’somethin’ that was BUBBLY? I think a young girl fainted in the row behind me. As did a Grandma in front of me. And Colbie completely just lost that song to you. But mostly I feel changed because I now own my devotion to you and will stop trying to get rid of it or explain it away. Yeah, I know, I’ve said that before, but this time it’s true. I am currently looking for another job in order to pay for concert tickets, hotels and plane fares. Wish me luck.
I remember when Jason Castro and I hung out during our day off there. I made a video blog that night about it too haha. Hold on let me see if I can find it…

I remember that day too David. Fans had a ton of fun with this video. If only you knew!
I haven’t seen it since the day I uploaded it, and I don’t plan on watching it now either lol. But wow that was just about a year ago! Crazy how much can happen in a year.
Yeah, tell me about it. . .
But anyway there it is if you wanted to see what I did on my last day off hanging out in PIttsburgh. So it should be fun! Let me know if you’re coming to the show or any of the other solo shows! But hey I think I have to go to soundcheck now… So I’ll talk to you guys later!
See above.
Song for the day: Blow Away – A Fine Frenzy Kinda random I know but it’s always in my head haha. Needed to get it out.
